M Satyanarayana
Chief Financial Officer

You don’t have to manage people, you have to empower them, says the Chief Financial Officer of Satyam BPO with a smile. With over 30 years of work experience in Finance, Satyanarayana is responsible for managing Finance, Secretarial and Administration portfolios along with Planning and Budgeting aspects. At Satyam BPO, he plays a key role in the Strategy & Acquisitions Group, in addition to developing project costing, pricing and contract negotiation.

Prior to joining Satyam BPO, Satyanarayana worked for one of India’s leading corporate houses, ITC Limited, for 23 years, where he had various responsibilities. He implemented SAP-based ERP across the division and carried out payroll computerization. Satyanarayana was the key driver of many new initiatives, and from time to time, he was involved in the company’s new ventures. Remarking on Finance as a key business function for any company, he says, one must develop a feel for numbers. It comes with practice. Over a period of time and based on the knowledge of the industry we work in, it becomes easy to ‘read’ numbers. Satyanarayana believes that for a Finance professional, numbers should make enough sense to be able to give direction to business goals.

Satyanarayana has been at the helm of crafting, organizing and establishing Satyam BPO’s Finance department among other things. During his tenure at Satyam BPO, he focused on setting up a robust ERP system to automate and enable financial processes and creating thumb rules to innovate in Finance. Satyanarayana leads a team which is as organized, process-oriented and strategic in their thinking as he is. You don’t have to do everything. When the team knows their roles, they work like a well-oiled machine. I sometimes catch up on my reading at work, because my team runs by itself, he remarks with a hint of humor. Satyanarayana specializes in Management, Accountancy, Tax Management and Corporate Management. He has a degree in Science and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of India.

Satyanarayana loves reading anything, be it Finance related journals and articles, fiction or biographies. He lives in Hyderabad with his wife, Jyotsna. Their son, Parjanya, is an engineer working in the UK and their daughter, Abhishtita, is studying medicine in Hyderabad.

Seshadri (Sax) Krishna
Global Head – Strategy & Corporate Development

Who could have ever imagined that I would earn an identity at the age of 14!, quipped Satyam BPO’s Strategy Head in a tête-à-tête with his colleagues. While pursuing a HAM course in amateur radio, dabbling with frequencies and waves, he was assigned a unique radio IP – VU2SAX. He loved it, so did his friends and peers and a brand was born. Seshadri ‘Sax’ Krishna always believed that the true quest in life is to create certainties out of uncertain situations.

While his main degree was in Mechanical Engineering from BITS, Pilani, he took electives in Electronics and Business Administration – just to be equipped to deal with future uncertainties in career. After graduation, with a job offer from campus he took a sabbatical to visit several companies in Bombay (now Mumbai) and did a thorough search of not only the companies, but the industries as well, to scope the future. He had chosen to begin his career with an automobile manufacturing company after being heavily influenced by Lee Iacocca’s autobiography in mid 80’s.

Through a great deal of learning he was quickly able to pick up the innuendos of ‘shop floor’, people management and human insight skills.  Within a few years, Sax began to lead a group of focused and aggressive sales people at HCL where he created financial software for a leading Indian bank – as a pure, revenue sharing joint venture. Soon his journey led him to the US and he was already planning to create a partnership with Headstrong and HCL to lay the foundation of perhaps the first offshore-onshore organic Indo-American joint venture. Through this process, his cross-cultural people management skills were refined as well as his prowess for thought leadership.

Sax spent 14 years with HCL where he led Sales teams, managed IT consulting operations and procreated several alliances and ventures deploying several financial and strategic models. I joined Satyam BPO because I knew it is here, within the Satyam ecosystem, I could create a differentiated BPO business. So, in 2004, Sax began a new journey with the company where he was given the responsibility of enabling exponential business growth by creating a set of well constructed blue prints. He created the Business Development and Solutions architecting teams and led the growth of Satyam BPO’s revenues from $2M to $39M in three years.  He is currently in charge of Strategy & Corporate Development running the inorganic growth engine (M&A) as well as creating alliances and providing guidance and vision for growth – “the function which will change the company” according to the CEO of Satyam BPO.

There’s lots to come, he says while explaining the generic outsourcing of services model to us. So from a “honey I shrunk your cost” model to “we created value”, is a leap that is not a choice anymore. The early ones to embrace this business philosophy are the ones who are certain to play and potentially win the game. Sax is a Steering Council member at Satyam BPO and is an integral part of all key decision making for critical business drivers.

He currently lives in Clifton, Virginia, US with his wife Nandini, and his two wonderful daughters Archana and Meghana.

Naresh Jhangiani
Global Head – Human Resources

Let your work speak for itself, candidly states Naresh Jhangiani, Global Head of Human Resources at Satyam BPO, revealing more of the man behind the HR professional. With over 20 years of intensive work experience, of which 17 are in global HR practices, Naresh believes his passion for Human Resources developed as a result of his people skills and his love for data and analytics.

High on integrity and strongly influenced by his father in his growing years, Naresh says, it helps to reflect on your day every evening, even if it is for just 30 minutes. Over the years, Naresh has developed a keen insight of people and the business in which he works.

Prior to joining Satyam BPO, Naresh served as Global Head for Recruitment in the parent company, Satyam, where he was responsible for the ramp-ups that Satyam has witnessed since 1997. Never one to avoid a challenge, Naresh was also actively involved in Automation Strategy, designing specifications and aligning HR strategies and initiatives in line with the company’s business needs. He also handled HR operations in the UK and Europe where between finding solutions and creating systems, he found trust is critical in our business. If one has to win, one must be ready to face any kind of situation, however adverse they might be. While heading the Talent Acquisition initiative in Satyam, Naresh has earned the reputation of being an industry expert.

When I started my career with Wesman Group of Companies, I worked in a totally different field for six years. When I joined Gati, I found my true calling quite accidentally, says Naresh. In Gati, Naresh successfully built leadership teams across various divisions and played a key role in positioning the company as a preferred employer by implementing industry-specific HR initiatives and best practices in the Logistics sector.

At Satyam BPO, Naresh spearheads Human Resources with the same passion as he cooks up a delicious meal on a Sunday morning. He is deeply involved in every aspect of HR, leveraging his rich experience in all areas of People Strategy, including Organizational Development and Organizational Effectiveness.

HR has to be business-focused – a business driver, and not a support function, says Naresh. During his career, Naresh got the Super Achiever’s Award (Pan-India) by the Indira Group of Institutes, Pune, and also the Best Integrator Award at the Leadership Meet in 2007 at Satyam BPO. He is a member of the National HRD Network and a consulting member of the mid-size consulting group in the US. Naresh graduated in Commerce and has a PGDM in Human Resources.

Cricket and cooking, Naresh loves both. He lives with his wife Ravina and daughter Vinaya, in Hyderabad.

S N Harish
Global Head - Delivery

No matter what we do, experience is ultimately everything, reinforces Harish S N, Global Head of Delivery at Satyam BPO. With over 25 years of work experience in a variety of roles that have honed his management skills, Harish has a way with words and people. He easily summarizes the need of the hour and expresses, work is never stressful; giving space to people, empowerment and getting smarter resources is the key to success.

Harish believes that it is important to have done multiple things, learned in more than one job and experienced life to be able to run a business profitably. At Satyam BPO, Harish’s primary role is to enhance customer confidence through operational excellence and delivery.

Harish began his career as a salesman in Eureka Forbes, taking his father’s advice to work and experience life firsthand. During his Eureka Forbes years, Harish learned more than just to showcase, project, strategize and sell products to customers who had no prior plans of buying. He says, I learned that people are essentially the same everywhere. They have the same concerns, they all look for similar things in a product and it is important to understand that whenever we make business decisions, we need to be quick.

Harish believes professionals must ‘never give up’. Prior to joining Satyam BPO, Harish in his earlier roles with Wipro, GECIS and 24x7, learned the importance of being totally immersed in every venture to get acquainted to all aspects of the process. At Wipro, he was responsible for consulting opportunities in the Asia-Pacific for Quality, IT Optimization and e-Governance. At 24x7, Harish as the Global Account Head, handled a wide range of responsibilities, spanning Delivery, Transition, Quality, PMO including running profit centers.

What inspires Harish is the ability to seize the power of the day. He leads a team of bright professionals who prioritize and focus on practical solutions and understand that various possibilities exist within a given situation to create centers of excellence across all existing and new delivery centers. I am amazed at the ability of the younger generation to teach us so much, Harish says.

At heart, Harish is a simple man; an agriculturist and a social worker, dedicating and dividing his spare time between his family’s business and CARE (a NGO). He lives and works in Hyderabad and Bangalore (where his wife Savita and son Abhimanyu reside).
