HP Software Universe

The second HP Software Universe was held at Las Vegas, Nevada, from 16 – 19 June 2008. This conference is one of the biggest conferences ever held by HP.

More than 2,315 customers and partners from 875 companies in 40 countries attended the conference. There were 41 sponsors of the likes of Novell, SAP, Birlasoft, Infosys, Wipro, Oracle, Cognizant etc.

Through track sessions, roundtable discussions, and combined HP Software Solution Center and Partner Showcase, HP brought together the information required to evaluate HP’s expanding BTO, BIO and OpenCall portfolios and to determine what part their solutions can play in optimizing the business outcomes.

HP Chairman and CEO Mark Hurd welcomed attendees to the conference. He was joined by HP Software senior vice president Tom Hogan.

On the first day Partner Summit general session was held where discussions centered on HP partners and they had the opportunity to connect with the HP product specialists. Charles Neal, HP software VP of Alliances, channels and direct addressed the gathering and shared the global perspective on HP’s software strategy and 2007 performance. He also discussed the HP software market and sales model and how HP was exploiting opportunities with their partner ecosystem.

On the second day HP announced the launch of HP BTO for Operations, which adds innovations to their BTO portfolio that help HP customers make IT change more predictable; detect problems before they disrupt business operations; and implement the industry’s first truly federated, ITILv3-compliant configuration management system for more contextual, real-time information and more informed business decisions.

On the third and fourth day there were several parallel sessions where the HP product specialists shared their vision for HP business technology optimization across strategy, applications and operations, SOA offerings, business service management and the HP Universal Configuration Management Database, improvement in web application development processes and avoidance of security risks.
The event closed with a day of certification exams, technical enablement for HP partners, roundtables, demonstrations in the HP Software Solution Center and—the fun finale of the conference—a party with Grammy award winner Stephen Marley and American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis.

The next conference will be held during the same dates at the same venue in 2009.

QEdge exhibits in StarWest 06
17-21 Oct 06

StarWEST – Software Testing Analysis & Review is one of the industry’s most recognized software quality conferences. We attended this conference after the Mercury World 2006 at Las Vegas. StarWEST was held at the Disney land Hotel , Anaheim , USA from the 16th to the 20th of Oct . The StarWEST conference is hosted by the Software Quality Engineering forum and aims at assisting software professionals and organizations interested in boosting productivity to improve their software practices and increasing ROI as well as delivering more customer value.

There were some very intellectually simulating topics during the keynote sessions like "How to Build Your Own Robot Army" by Harry Robinson, Google, Inc.; "What Every Tester Needs to Know to Succeed in the Agile World" by Jean Tabaka, Rally Software Development Corporation and "Dispelling Testing’s Top Ten Illusions” by Lloyd Roden, Grove Consultants. With tutorial& workshop topics that related to the very day life of a software testing engineer like "Performance Testing Secrets in Context" by Scott Barber, PerfTestPlus, Inc., "Implementing a Test Automation Framework" by Linda Hayes, Worksoft, Inc. and "Essential Test Management and Planning" Rick Craig, Software Quality Engineering is was easy to see why this conference was such a hit among the testing community.

The one-of-a-kind Software Testing EXPO was designed to bring out the latest solutions in testing technologies, software, and tools to support software testing efforts, participate in technical presentations and demonstrations. We had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with representatives from some of today’s most progressive and innovative organizations. With teams like Microsoft , Wipro, Aztecsoft-itest, Google, IBM, iGATE and RelQ along with others participating in this event, it was a very enriching experience to minge with them and learn about their different products & services.

Vendors like Mercury & Compuware were also a part of this event showcasing their latest testing product solutions.

Overall it was a very enriching experience having met so many different people from various companies across the world – some alliance partners … some competitors …and some IT giants all under the same roof.

These awards identify and honor leading companies that have leveraged Mercury's BTO offerings to ensure their IT organizations successfully deliver business outcomes. From over 70 submissions, finalists were selected in each of the four categories. The panel of judges chose the winners based on outstanding business results and the solutions they developed.

The Mercury World exhibition was on the 10th & 11th and was very well organized. All the major software testing companies across the globe participated in the exhibition. The Satyam booth was visited by more than 200 people and we had a tough time managing all the queries and explaining to the crowd about Satyam’s and QEdge’s Service Offerings.

The response was great and we have already received loads of mails in response to the visits to our exhibition booth.

Dr Hefley visits Cyberspace in order to identify areas of further collaboration
14 Sep 2006

On the 14th of September Dr Hefley visited Cyber-Space for a two hour information sharing session with 15 QEdge associates. The purpose of the visit was for QEdge and Dr Hefley to exchange information in order to identify areas of future collaboration, as part of the QEdge Leadership Talk Series.

Dr Hefley talked about current trends within the software testing market, he also provided an insight into the current expectations within the industry. Dr Hefley was the leader of the team that developed maturity models such as ESCM and the People Capability Maturity Model (P-CMM®). QEdge in return explained what work is undertaken at QEdge, including a talk by Raghavendran Sethumadhan on the Test Business School. They then demonstrated the capabilities QEdge as a company has and shared their ambitions for the future.

QEdge participates in Nasscom Quality Summit 2006

6-7 Sep 2006

Taking forward Satyam’s mindshare initiative, Satyam recently participates in NASSCOM Quality Summit 2006 – one of the most successful international Quality Summits – held in Bangalore on the 6th & 7th of September at Leela Palace Kempinsky.

This event included, amongst others, keynotes addressed by national and international speakers of repute and brought together, thought leaders from industry, academia and government in sharing their experience and best practices.

The Summit was attended by the who’s who of the Quality & Testing world and Satyam made its presence well noticed.

The conference opened with a welcome address by Mr. Kiran Karnik, President NASSCOM. He was followed by a series of other keynote speakers.

While we had a booth set up at the Exhibition, which was widely visited and highly appreciated, we also had Satyam’s testing associates attending the conference as a part of our networking activity.

The distinctive point of the Exhibition was that, it was more on the learning and educative side rather that just a selling perspective. Satyam not only got an opportunity to exhibit its Service Offerings and capabilities but also got a first hand knowledge of the major competitors and the testing scenario. While selling was not the major ambition, Marketing could not be completely ignored and in this vicinity, Satyam attracted attention from quite a few prospects.

On the whole, it was quite a satisfying summit for Satyam.
