Overview

Founded in 1860, ABC Life Insurance Company is the fourth largest mutual life insurance Company in the US. With more than 6,000 employees, ABC and its subsidiaries provide life and disability insurance, retirement services, and investment products such as mutual funds, securities, variable life insurance, and variable annuities.

Satyam helped provide key outsourcing services with respect to dental claims registration and billing services. A call center was set up to handle these activities.
Business Need and
Satyam’s Involvement

Satyam was charged with streamlining claims processing. At ABC, employees manually entered claim details from a dental/medical form into a mainframe. Later, claim adjudication took place. The team also wanted to achieve:

  • Significant cost reduction
  • Improved service in turnaround time and quality
  • An eased workload on critical resources (staff and infrastructure)
Satyam established a call center, where its team managed benefits verification. Now, providers and members call the company to verify benefits, check on claim status, and for other information. Satyam also took over new member healthcare enrolments and renewals. The volumes Satyam handles are extraordinary—more than 8 million transactions and 1 million calls each year.
