B. Ramalinga Raju
Ramalinga Raju, also known as Raju, is Satyam’s founder and chairman. Raju is a world-renowned visionary, global business leader, and thinker. He uses a simple, yet extensive management model to create value, which promotes entrepreneurship, a focus on the customer, and the constant pursuit of excellence. Raju is passionate about developing leaders within his organizations and has conceptualized / institutionalized the Full Life Cycle Leadership (FLCL) model—a unique entrepreneurship framework that develops leaders at all levels of Satyam.
Raju has an MBA from Ohio University, and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School. He has won numerous awards not only for building a best-in-class business but also taking innovative steps to positively impact the society. Some of the awards won by Raju include: the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2007), CNBC’s Asian Business Leader—Corporate Citizen of the Year (2002), Dataquest IT Man of the Year (2000), and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Services (1999).
Raju’s keen understanding of IT and institution building has enabled him to contribute to policy formulation in India and abroad. He was the ex-chairman of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), a 1,100-member industry body of Indian IT services companies. He is:
- A member of the National Executive Councils of the two national business associations of India: CII and FICCI
- A member of the International Advisory Panel of Malaysia’s Multimedia Super-Corridor
- A member of the conference board
Raju also serves on the boards of several educational, research, and not-for-profit institutions. Moreover, he tirelessly creates greater social equity and provides opportunities to underprivileged through institutions he has established: the Satyam Foundation, the Byrraju Foundation, and EMRI.
A voracious reader, Raju is deeply influenced by science. He has adopted several scientific principles in running business operations.
B. Rama Raju
Rama Raju, also known as Ramu, is Satyam’s co-founder and managing director. He has been on the company’s board since its inception in 1987. Ramu was appointed as the managing director in 1991 and the CEO in April 2005. He is also the chairman of Satyam-Venture Engineering Services, a subsidiary of Satyam, and is on the board of Nipuna Services, Satyam’s BPO subsidiary.
Ramu has a master's in economics from Madras Loyola College and an MBA, with a specialization in international trade, from Texas A&M International University (formerly Laredo State University). He also has attended the owner/president course at Harvard.
Ramu shares Raju’s social vision, particularly the importance of rural transformation through self-help groups and the use of technology. He is actively involved in the Byrraju Foundation, which was established to provide opportunities for the rural underprivileged.
Ram Mynampati
Ram Mynampati joined Satyam as executive vice president in 1999 and became executive vice president and chief operating officer in November 2000. He has been president, Satyam’s commercial and healthcare businesses since October 2002. Ram has executive responsibility for Satyam’s operations across the verticals of Financial Services, Healthcare, Retail & Transportation and Government. In addition, he oversees Satyam’s long standing strategic relationships with GE, its largest client and Microsoft.
Ram is directing Satyam’s rapidly growing footprint in Canada as well as its emerging presence across Latin America. Ram holds a master of computer science from California State University. He is the chairman of the Board of Citisoft Plc., a business and systems consulting firm acquired by Satyam in April 2005, specializing in the investment management space; and Satyam Technologies, Inc., a 100% subsidiary of the Company. Ram is also director on the Board of Satyam Venture Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between the Company and Venture Global Engineering LLC, USA.
Dr. (Mrs.) Mangalam Srinivasan
Dr. Mangalam Srinivasan has been on the Board of the Company since July 1991. She has held senior research and faculty positions in leading US universities (University of California at Berkeley, American University in Washington DC, Harvard University, Northeastern University and Tufts University in Boston) for many years. Her Harvard appointments include: Distinguished Fellow at the Center for International Affairs (one of the first women to receive a direct invitation); Advisor, Energy Efficiency and Finance-related Climate Change Issues, Interdisciplinary Committee on Environment; and Special Advisor, Center for International Development at the Kennedy School of Government. Her areas of expertise include: International Financial Management, Role of Information Resources and Infrastructure Policies, Government-Business Nexus in Managing Innovation and Technology Assessment, Energy and Environmental Justice.
As Director of the Center for International Technical Cooperation and as Professor of Cybernetics: Communication and Control at the American University, Dr. Mangalam was involved in working with US Government Departments, US National Academy of Sciences and US National Science Foundation and the UN. She released a major publication on Technology Assessment and Development.
Dr. Mangalam has served in key advisory positions in various prestigious organizations:
Scientific Advisor, the Government of India, (during the Late Indira Gandhi’s tenure); Director, the Center for Technology Policy Council and Center for International Technical Cooperation at the American University in Washington DC; Project Advisor, The World Bank; Research Analyst, Wells Fargo Bank. She has advised several international organizations and governmental and apex bodies: US Department of Energy, the European Union, OECD, the Smithsonian Institution, UN and its Specialized Agencies, Organization of the American States. She holds a Doctorate in Technology Assessment; is an Advanced Special Scholar in Astronomy; an MBA in International Finance; an MA in English Literature; and a BA in Mathematics and Physics. She also holds Diplomas in International Law; Economics; International Finance and Foreign Exchange; Higher Accountancy and Industrial Finance from the Indian Institute of Bankers.
In addition to the being a member of the Board of Directors at Satyam Computer Services, Dr. Managalam holds memberships in various other bodies, including: Trustee, Forsyth Institute, Boston, the largest biomedical research institute in its category; Member, Board of Women and Public Policy, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University; Commissioner, Women’s Commission, City of Cambridge; and was Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors, a Washington-based Telecom Company (1987 – 92).
Dr. Mangalam has delivered keynote speeches at various international conferences and writes books and articles on literature and management.
Vinod K. Dham
Vinod K Dham has been on the Board of the Company since January, 2003. Dham is famous as the “Father of the Pentium” and held the positions of vice president of Intel’s Microprocessor Products Group and GM of the Pentium Processor Division. After 16 years at Intel, he joined Nexgen as the chief operating officer and executive vice president. In May, 2000, President Clinton appointed Dham to the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. In 1999, he was named as one of the top 100 Asian Americans of the decade. Dham obtained his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) from the University of Delhi in 1971. He received his Masters in Electrical Engineering (Solid State) from the University of Cincinnati in 1977, from which he also received a Distinguished Alumni Award. He has co-authored numerous technical papers and patents. Dham is also on the Boards of Newpath Ventures LLC, Hello Soft Inc., Sasken Communication Technologies Ltd., Nevis Networks Inc., Telsima Corporation, Insilica Inc., and Montalvo Systems.
Dr. Krishna G. Palepu
Professor Krishna G Palepu has been on the Board of the Company since January, 2003. He is the Ross Graham Walker Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School. He also holds the title of Senior Associate Dean, Director of Research.
Palepu joined the Harvard Business School faculty in 1983 after receiving a master's degree in physics from Andhra University, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also a recipient of an honorary MA from Harvard, and an honorary Doctorate from the Helsinki School of Economics. He teaches Finance, Control, and Strategy in Harvard's MBA and Executive Programs. His research focuses on analyzing firms' business strategies, and the process through which the effectiveness of these strategies is communicated to investors. He has published numerous research papers and teaching cases on these issues. He is also the co-author of the book, "Business Analysis & Valuation: Text and Cases," which won the American Accounting Association's Wildman award for its impact on management practice, and notable contribution to the Accounting Literature Award for its impact on research. Professor Palepu serves as a Consultant to a wide variety of businesses, and is also on the Boards of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Limited, Exeter Corporation, USA and Harvard Business School Publishing Co., USA.
Dr. Mendu Rammohan Rao
Prof. M Rammohan Rao is the Dean of Indian School of Business (ISB). He has a Ph.D. in Industrial Administration from the Graduate School of Industrial Administration, Carnegie-Mellon University, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He completed two master's degrees – Master of Science in Industrial Administration, Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Master of Engineering (Industrial), Cornell University, New York.
Prof. Rao is renowned worldwide for his research and teaching capabilities. As a Research Fellow, he was associated with the International Institute of Management, Science Center, Berlin, Germany; and the International Center for Management Sciences, Center for Operations Research and Econometrics, University Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. He also conducted research at the Operations Research Group, United States Steel Corporation, Applied Research Laboratory, Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Prof. Rao has published over 85 articles in various professional journals. He is a member of the Board of Editors, OPSEARCH – a journal of the Operational Research Society of India. He serves as a member in the Executive Group of the Editorial Board at the Information Systems Frontiers – a Journal of Research and Innovation, Kluwer Academic Publishers. He is also the President of the Operational Research Society of India. He has won several prestigious awards conferred by leading institutions across the world.
Prof. Rao is also on the Boards of Moschip Semiconductor Technology Ltd.; Krishna Fabrications Pvt. Ltd. and APIDC Venture Capital.
T. R. Prasad
T. R. Prasad holds a master’s degree in Physics (Electronics) from Banaras Hindu University. He is a lifetime fellow of the Institute of Engineers (FIE). He took over as Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, on 01.11.2000 and held this post for a two-year tenure after which he joined the 12th Finance Commission as a member. The other positions held by T.R. Prasad prior to this were: Defence Secretary, Government of India; Secretary, Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Industry; Chairman, Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB); Secretary, Heavy Industry, and Chairman, Maruti Udyog Limited.
Prasad’s earlier assignments include: Principal Secretary, Industry and Commerce/Urban Development/Revenue, Government of Andhra Pradesh; Chairman, Vizag Port Trust; Special Officer, Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad; Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh State Finance Corporation/Andhra Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation; Development Commissioner and Ex-Officio Secretary to Chief Minister; Secretary, Irrigation and Command Area Development; Secretary, Planning, Government of Andhra Pradesh. He was a Director on the Board of IDBI, ICICI, EXIM Bank, Vizag Steel Plant, Hindustan Shipyard, Nagarjuna Chemicals & Fertilizers and Dredging Corporation of India.
Prof. V. S. Raju
Prof. V. S. Raju is an engineer with bachelor and master degrees from Andhra University and Indian Institute of Science, respectively. He also holds a Dr. Ing. from University of Karlsruhe, Germany. He is the former Director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi; and was a professor and Dean at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. During his over 40-year academic career, he interacted extensively with industry as a consultant and at policy level, promoted Industry-Academia collaboration. He was a part time member of telecom regulatory Authority of India for three years and has extensive exposure to issues related to telecommunications. Currently, he is the chairman of the Naval Research Board, Defense Research and Development Organization, Government of India. He is also a member on various other committees and task forces, concerned with technical education and research.
