M Satyanarayana
Chief Financial Officer
You don’t have to manage people, you have to empower them, says the Chief Financial Officer of Satyam BPO with a smile. With over 30 years of work experience in Finance, Satyanarayana is responsible for managing Finance, Secretarial and Administration portfolios along with Planning and Budgeting aspects. At Satyam BPO, he plays a key role in the Strategy & Acquisitions Group, in addition to developing project costing, pricing and contract negotiation.
Prior to joining Satyam BPO, Satyanarayana worked for one of India’s leading corporate houses, ITC Limited, for 23 years, where he had various responsibilities. He implemented SAP-based ERP across the division and carried out payroll computerization. Satyanarayana was the key driver of many new initiatives, and from time to time, he was involved in the company’s new ventures. Remarking on Finance as a key business function for any company, he says, one must develop a feel for numbers. It comes with practice. Over a period of time and based on the knowledge of the industry we work in, it becomes easy to ‘read’ numbers. Satyanarayana believes that for a Finance professional, numbers should make enough sense to be able to give direction to business goals.
Satyanarayana has been at the helm of crafting, organizing and establishing Satyam BPO’s Finance department among other things. During his tenure at Satyam BPO, he focused on setting up a robust ERP system to automate and enable financial processes and creating thumb rules to innovate in Finance. Satyanarayana leads a team which is as organized, process-oriented and strategic in their thinking as he is. You don’t have to do everything. When the team knows their roles, they work like a well-oiled machine. I sometimes catch up on my reading at work, because my team runs by itself, he remarks with a hint of humor. Satyanarayana specializes in Management, Accountancy, Tax Management and Corporate Management. He has a degree in Science and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of India.
Satyanarayana loves reading anything, be it Finance related journals and articles, fiction or biographies. He lives in Hyderabad with his wife, Jyotsna. Their son, Parjanya, is an engineer working in the UK and their daughter, Abhishtita, is studying medicine in Hyderabad.
Naresh Jhangiani
Global Head - Human Resources
Let your work speak for itself, candidly states Naresh Jhangiani, Global Head of Human Resources at Satyam BPO, revealing more of the man behind the HR professional. With over 20 years of intensive work experience, of which 17 are in global HR practices, Naresh believes his passion for Human Resources developed as a result of his people skills and his love for data and analytics.
High on integrity and strongly influenced by his father in his growing years, Naresh says, it helps to reflect on your day every evening, even if it is for just 30 minutes. Over the years, Naresh has developed a keen insight of people and the business in which he works.
Prior to joining Satyam BPO, Naresh served as Global Head for Recruitment in the parent company, Satyam, where he was responsible for the ramp-ups that Satyam has witnessed since 1997. Never one to avoid a challenge, Naresh was also actively involved in Automation Strategy, designing specifications and aligning HR strategies and initiatives in line with the company’s business needs. He also handled HR operations in the UK and Europe where between finding solutions and creating systems, he found trust is critical in our business. If one has to win, one must be ready to face any kind of situation, however adverse they might be. While heading the Talent Acquisition initiative in Satyam, Naresh has earned the reputation of being an industry expert.
When I started my career with Wesman Group of Companies, I worked in a totally different field for six years. When I joined Gati, I found my true calling quite accidentally, says Naresh. In Gati, Naresh successfully built leadership teams across various divisions and played a key role in positioning the company as a preferred employer by implementing industry-specific HR initiatives and best practices in the Logistics sector.
At Satyam BPO, Naresh spearheads Human Resources with the same passion as he cooks up a delicious meal on a Sunday morning. He is deeply involved in every aspect of HR, leveraging his rich experience in all areas of People Strategy, including Organizational Development and Organizational Effectiveness.
HR has to be business-focused – a business driver, and not a support function, says Naresh. During his career, Naresh got the Super Achiever’s Award (Pan-India) by the Indira Group of Institutes, Pune, and also the Best Integrator Award at the Leadership Meet in 2007 at Satyam BPO. A banker at heart, Sitaraman Parasuraman is a veteran in the banking industry. With over 20 years of experience in a wide array of jobs like retail banking, personal banking and branch banking, Sita (as he is commonly addressed) has seen the banking industry transform itself.
A graduate in Economics with a Master’s in Business Management from the noted Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Sita joined the erstwhile Grindlays Bank as his first job.
“Fresh out of college, I had a multifaceted job profile that helped me learn and move up the ladder quickly,” says Sita. At Satyam BPO, Sita started off by leading the business development activity for Banking and Financial Services (BFS), Manufacturing, Engineering, Gas and Automotive (MEGA), and Energy and Utilities (E&U). He then moved on to the strategy and corporate development team of Satyam BPO which involved exploring the potential areas of inorganic growth, alliances and partnerships as well as interaction with industry analysts and research firms.
Currently Sita heads the Corporate Strategy and Real Time Leadership Center at Satyam BPO. In this role, he focuses on charting out Satyam BPO’s growth strategy and creating leaders as well as leadership opportunities for new leaders to be brought to the fore. He is currently working on instituting and creating a structure with clearly defined individual roles and responsibilities that encourage greater focus on the organizational objectives.
